If you lose or gain benefits coverage for any of the following reasons, be sure to update your benefits within 31 days of the change. You must make changes within 31 days or you will not be able to elect new benefits until the following plan year.

  • Enroll your child in health coverage within 31 days of their birth
  • Contact your Human Resources representative about taking paid parental leave if you are eligible
  • Get support and answers to your maternity questions from trained nurses
  • Notify your manager of your return to work
  • Get a Social Security Number for your child by calling the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213. Always add your child to your benefits within 31 days even if you don’t have an SSN as yet. Call the Benefit Center to make an update once you receive it.
  • Review family benefits such as the Dependent Care FSA
  • Review your life insurance coverage and beneficiary information

You may no longer cover your child through your benefits plans once they reach age 26, unless they are disabled.

  • Your child will drop off medical, prescription, dental and vision benefits at the end of the month in which they turn age 26. The Arkema benefits center will adjust your coverage tier if needed and your child will be offered COBRA continuation.
  • Help your child find new benefits through their job or through your state’s benefits marketplace

We wish you the best in the next chapter of your life. Use the checklist below to guide you through important actions you may want to take at this time.

  • Notify your manager.
  • Return all company property.
  • Make decisions about your ongoing benefits coverage. You can expect to receive COBRA information mailed to you at home after your benefits coverage ends.
  • Convert supplemental life insurance to an individual policy, if desired.
  • Access free, confidential counseling through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Determine eligibility for unused vacation pay.
  • Contact your retirement plan administrator to learn about your options.

This is a qualified life event. After you've left the company and are no longer eligible for Arkema benefits, you are eligible to enroll in other coverage, such as COBRA coverage, your new employer's coverage, or your spouse's benefits.
